Favorite designers and stores?

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

Beachy, west coast trend, smart-casual

My mark. skincare products – especially the matte chance mattifying lotion ($16).

Ideal job/industry to be in one day:

I think that being a food critic would be a lot of fun – but since I don’t like a lot of foods, it might make that particular occupation hard! I’d like to go into the business world and work in marketing, product development or human resources. I think that working in the beauty or entertainment industry would be really cool.

Favorite designers and stores?

I love Ann Taylor Loft (especially when they’re having a good sale – I’m a sucker for a good sale!). I also love J.Crew (especially the outlet stores!) and Loehmann’s. I don’t have a favorite designer; I tend to purchase things that look good on me and are not too expensive regardless of who designed them.

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

I would say that my style is comfortable cute with a splash of bright color. I’m generally inspired by whatever catches my eye in a store – and on a sale rack!

What was the inspiration behind this particular outfit?

I bought this shirt and necklace this weekend and really wanted to wear it! This outfit is comfortable, cute and work appropriate.

What’s your favorite thing about the mark. internship so far?

I love hearing from the many successful women mark. has introduced us to. They are all so inspiring and successful. In general, everyone at the office has been incredibly nice and helpful which I love. I’ll be sad when the summer is over.

Favorite mark. product to take on a desert island?

mark.’s Fair Trade do the right thing smoothing body lotion ($12). It has an SPF of 15 so I could protect my pale skin from the sunlight and keep my skin hydrated while I fight the UV radiation!

What are your fashion and beauty summer must-haves?

I need to have a good pair of sandals and lip balm with an SPF in it.

And finally, the best thing about being in NYC for the summer? What’s the number 1 thing to do?

The best thing about being in NY this summer is exploring the city and stumbling upon things you don’t expect to find. I’ve gone to a few museums that have been really interesting and eaten at a lot of great, inexpensive, restaurants in fun areas of the city. I’ve seen a few Broadway shows that have been incredible and I would suggest that everyone go see one!

Favorite designers and stores?

Honestly, I’ve never really thought much of a particular favorite designer or celebrity inspiration; I like random things from different designers I’ve seen. Forever 21 is probably a really generic answer for a favorite store but I like it because there are lots of different styles to choose from. I find myself putting outfits together from Forever 21 with each piece from a completely different section. I also love inexpensive consignment shops – especially here in NYC because there are a lot of really great style pieces.

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

I like a lot of different things – I’d like to say my wardrobe is pretty eclectic, but I know that there’s probably some commonality in my clothing choices. I definitely only dress for myself; I don’t really feel the need to impress anyone with my clothing because I think personal fashion is a celebration of individuality. I like to be bold with some pieces and I love ruffles, bows and lace. So I guess if I have to describe my general style it would be girly and trendy.

Depending on my mood my style will be something totally different.  I love my buckle rocker boots and wearing all black. I also love my braided headband, flowy top, cowboy boots and cutoff jean shorts. I’d say most of the time the girly side comes out – I just like to pair it with something more unexpected. And I’m not the type of “trendy” that throws away last season’s must-have – I like to recreate my wardrobe year to year. I think inspiration for fashion comes from experiences or things that I’ve seen and the people that I love.

I also wear a lot of mark.—and mark. is trendy in such a good way. mark. also makes their products customizable to individual style – which I love because I can wear mark. pieces differently each time!

What was the inspiration behind this particular outfit?

Well the shirt was given to me by a friend – I get a lot of my friends’ hand-me-downs.  I like this though because I feel that friends have a lot of influence in your life and inspire you. The skirt is from a consignment shop in Brooklyn. I love finding great things inexpensively and having it being something that no one else would have. (Plus consignment shops are a great way to go green!)

The belt and bracelets are new from mark!. My new favorite thing is to layer different textures of bracelets. Even if I don’t try to wear mark., it always finds its way into my ensemble pretty much on a daily basis. The products are just so essential!

What’s your favorite thing about the mark. internship so far?

The people that I’ve met.  I already love the brand and now I fell in love with the people behind the great products.  mark. makes it very possible to be successful and have a great time while doing so.  It perfectly combines two of my biggest passions – fashion and helping others!

Favorite mark. product to take on a desert island?

Get a tint tinted moisturizer lotion with SPF 15 ($9)! Redheads can’t be on deserted islands without SPF! 😉

What are your fashion and beauty summer must-haves?

For fashion, I love flowy skirts and dresses.  I also love cut-off shorts with boots.  I really like layering but I don’t like being hot, so it’s fun to find the happy medium there!  I also love wearing a bathing suit and cute cover ups.  I think my bohemian/hippy/peace-for-all side comes out a lot in the summer.

As for beauty, I love all the longwear and waterproof category products from mark. – my all-time favorite product being the keep it going longwear eyeliner & shadow duo ($10).  I also love glowdacious illuminating power ($12) because it literally gives the perfect sunkissed glow.  I love long, girly lashes and refuse to not wear mascara (even at the river!) so lash splash waterproof mascara ($6) is my savior.

And finally, the best thing about being in NYC for the summer? What’s the number 1 thing to do?

Explore!  Walking around is the best way to find the coolest places.  Set aside a full day to explore a certain area – all the different areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn have their own personalities.  Google one or two special places to go with friends and pick out random places (for eating, shopping – whatever!) to stop at along the way.

Favorite designers and stores?

I love BCBG Max Azria, Alexander McQueen and Chanel. However, I can’t afford those so I’ll find cute, trendy pieces at H&M, Forever 21 and smaller boutiques and bargain stores such as Kohl’s and Nordstrom Rack.

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

My style is simple and feminine, I love to add a bold or edgy accessory—jewelry, belt or shoes—to spice it up. I take inspiration from celeb style outfits and fashion magazines—I’ll find outfits that I like and pieces to make them my own. Also, confidence and a smile are your best accessories—you can rock any outfit with those!

What was the inspiration behind this particular outfit?

I loved the lace detail of this top—it fits my feminine style. The shoes make it fun and different and the bracelets ($14, available here)  give it more color.

What’s your favorite thing about the mark. internship so far?

My favorite thing is the experience as a whole by living and working in NYC. I’ve met so many new people, made new friends and heard some great stories from role models. It is definitely a life-changing experience and makes me want to take charge of my life and career.

Favorite mark. product to take on a desert island?

This is so hard, I’m such a product junkie, but I would have to have the new Do The Right Thing Smoothing Body Lotion SPF 15 from the Fair Trade collection*—moisturizing for my dry skin and SPF to protect!

What are your fashion and beauty summer must-haves?

For fashion, summer dresses in splashy, bold colors, or soft floral patterns and a cute pair of sandals. For beauty, minimal is best in the heat: moisturizer with SPF or tinted moisturizer and bronzer. At night, bump up your look with a classic cat eye using (waterproof) liquid liner and a sexy pout using a lip stain.

And finally, the best thing about being in NYC for the summer? What’s the number 1 thing to do?

Eat—there is so much delicious food, its ridiculous! Also- get out and explore, you find so much by just walking around through different neighborhoods.

*Products from the Fair Trade Collection are available at meetmark.com to Reps right now and to Customers on Friday!

Favorite designers and stores?

Favorite designer is Karen Walker and go-to stores are definitely J. Crew, Urban Outfitters and LOFT.

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

Very classic with a slightly girly feel. I usually begin with very basic and simple pieces, and then add one or two trendy accents to punch it up.

What was the inspiration behind this particular outfit?

Actually, it was the shoes. To me, when you have shoes that you adore like these, the outfit has to work around them.  Also, I basically live in dresses so the floral gave it a fun, summery feel with the belt making it a little more rugged.

What’s your favorite thing about the mark. internship so far?

Definitely the people in the company that we’ve gotten to meet.  It’s been such a great opportunity to get one-on-one time, wisdom, and guidance from these amazingly successful and smart women.  We’re so lucky to be exposed to these sorts of role models this early in our careers.

Favorite mark. product to take on a desert island?

Curl Goddess Curl and Wave Defining Gel ($6) – perfect beachy waves.

What are your fashion and beauty summer must-haves?

For fashion, like I said, fun dresses are a summer essential. They are so easy and breathable and transfer perfectly from day to night. As far as beauty goes, I never leave the house without Cheat Sheets ($5). They save my skin from getting too oily and keep my makeup in place.

And finally, the best thing about being in NYC for the summer? What’s the number 1 thing to do?

The best thing about New York in the summer is all of the awesome outdoor events. Whether there are street fairs, concerts, shows, festivals, you name it, there’s always something fun to do outside in the gorgeous weather. The #1 thing to do that I have found are the Hudson River Park events- they do free concerts, movie showings, and dance lessons on the water at sunset several nights a week. So much fun!

Ideal job/industry to be in one day:

I would love to be in the beauty industry.  Ever since I was young, I always wanted to be a beautician. I used to play “hair salon” with my dolls all the time and cover them with makeup for a full makeover! After high school, I even toyed with the idea of going to cosmetology school. As I’ve grown up, I have never lost track of that passion, but have found the best way to incorporate it into my life. I think at this point, my ideal job would to be to manage, or even own, a beauty salon or spa type business.

Favorite designers and stores?

I love trend brands and stores. One of my favorite designers is Betsey Johnson—mostly for her outrageous style. I wish I had enough confidence to wear, carry, or use half her line. I also enjoy shopping at Forever 21 & H&M and hunting for deals at Macy’s and Dillards!

What’s your general fashion inspiration? How would you define your style?

For me, fashion is all about what catches the eye and what I feel comfortable in. I tend to get my fashion inspiration from the seasons. During the summer, I am all about flowy and flowery clothes, and in the fall, neutrals—lots of golds and browns. I also tend to overaccessorize—no matter what the season. They really can make an outfit! You can never go wrong with accessories!

What was the inspiration behind this particular outfit?

This outfit was comfortable and trendy. I love leggings and over-sized shirts! I tried to make it a bit more edgy with the belt and the shoes. It’s a little crazy for my small hometown (I might get a few looks wearing this around), but I think I fit in here in NY.

What’s your favorite thing about the mark. internship so far?

Do I have to pick just one!? Everything about this internship has been great for me. It really is a dream job. I never thought a small town girl could make it to NYC for beauty and fashion. Besides being in NY, and surrounded by fabulous interns, I would have to say the best part of this internship is having the opportunity to meet and hear from so many powerful, independent, and impressive women.  I love hearing their stories and how they made their “mark.” in the world.

Favorite mark. product to take on a desert island?

I would have to take the It Kit ($8!).  It just has everything I need—eyes, lips, and blush.  Who could ask for anything more!

What are your fashion and beauty summer must-haves?

My summer must haves are the mark. brazilian bikini (top and bottom each $22), totally balmed SPF 15 lip balm in totally cute ($8) and summer day sunglasses ($12).  You can’t go wrong with these out in the sun!

And finally, the best thing about being in NYC for the summer? What’s the number 1 thing to do?

The best thing to do this summer is take advantage of the NYC fashion and shop in the city.  There are so many hidden boutiques;  I can’t wait to explore and find them all!
